Dr Ashok Agarwal is a public health specialist with over 26 years’ experience of working with government, national and international NGOs (ICMR, BPWT, Care, CRS, FHI 360 and PHFI) on issues like HIV, maternal and child health, TB and tobacco. He has been instrumental in designing and implementing innovative projects and approaches. He believes that appropriate involvement of the community is crucial for any intervention to be successful. He has the passion and drive to improve the lives of children, youth and adults particularly who are marginalized and in difficult situations, including the poorest of the poor. His core competencies include leadership, business development, policy development, liaising with key government and other stakeholders, strategic planning, program management, capacity building, and research.

Dr Ashok has joined NLR as India Country Director & Chief Executive Officer since October 2019. He wants to make use of the successful learning from the HIV program in the elimination of Leprosy. He also wants to follow an integrated approach of service delivery to the leprosy affected. He dreams Leprosy is eliminated and all Leprosy survivors are integrated in the larger society without any discrimination.
